After a loooong time waiting I finally received my Sideshow Spike figure yesterday. My enthusiam for it had been dampened by Michael Crawford's review, and even a viewing of a still-boxed figure at a store. But after opening it and having a muck around I was totally blown away. A great figure, imo.
A member of another board sold me a still-in-Sideshow-shipper exclusive at cost, so that only sweetened the haul. Despite this, I'm currently displaying him with the gloved hands because the Cross of DuLac is so damn cool. Definitely one of the best accessories I've seen.
I'm going to take some more photos tomorrow (in sunlight, wouldn't ya know [img]tongue.gif[/img] ) but here's one for the moment. The pose might look awkward in the photo but I'm really happy with how it comes across in person.
I realise not everyone likes mixed-media figures (dolls, whatever you feel like calling them), but I do. So please do me a favour spare me of the broken-record comments [img]tongue.gif[/img] .

Spike really is one of the best likenesses Sideshow has ever done... don't think the Buffy line will ever top it, truthfully. I agree that it definitely grows on you once you have him displayed.

I hope you're right about Giles... I really, really do. No matter who they make in the line, Giles is and will always be my grail figure.
And yeah, the exclusive hands are just the normal Sideshow hands with black fingernails. Like gooball said, just find some extra hands and paint the nails. Simple. [img]graemlins/thumbs_up.gif[/img]

bergponch, I actually have quite high hopes for Giles. But, it will definitely be hard to top Spike's portrait. I don't think we will see a female sculpt in the line that is superior to Spike, but I wouldn't too suprised if we see a male that is.

I can take semi-closeups of them if you like. I'm pretty sure you might find someone selling another Sideshow figure (that they've stripped for parts, and all that) with the same hands. Even if these ones are sculpted for Spike (I somewhat doubt it), they won't be hugely different to another pair that is freely available. You'd just need to paint the fingernails black when you found them.
